Not Much to Report
-rolling over and all over the place,
- laughs really hard when you tickle his legs,
-grabs at everything in his reach,
-talks to everything..he carries on conversations with his hands
-he finally tried out his jumparoo and seems to do pretty good in it. he can't quite reach the floor so we put a box under for him to stand on. he doesnt really jump but moves around in it and plays with the toys.
-he can put his paci in his mouth..but still can't find it at night when he needs it :(
-he found his toes and it is so cute watching him grab them and try to pull them to his face. this is definitely my favorite thing he's doing right now.
I'm sure there's more that he's doing but that's all I can remember at the moment. He will be starting some cereal in the next week or so, so I'm sure I'll have some funny pics and video to post. I can't wait!

Little Swimmer and More
Brody went swimming for the first time last Friday, May 30. I've been wanting to go to the pool with the moms, but I wanted Matt to get to be there for Brody's first pool experience so we went for a quick dip after Matt got off work. It was not easy to find a pool to go to! It was the day before all the summer hours started so everyone was having special stuff going on. We thought we could go to our neighborhood pool..we had no idea that our association dues that we have to pay don't even include pool access! We have to pay an additional $80 to use the pool for the summer! And we arent doing that because its a small pool and always really crowded.
So then we decided to be sneaky and drove to our old apartments. We remembered the gate code and drove on in. Not a good idea..it was LOADED with college students who were LOADED with ice chests full of beer.
We kept on driving. Next we went to Thomas Park. As we drove up, we saw a life guard instructing some kids with some noodles and other water toy things so we could tell it was some sort of organized event that we weren't allowed to attend.
So, then we ended up at the apartments I lived in a few years ago. We remembered they had a nice new pool and it doesn't have a lock. So finally we found a pool for our baby boy! (Don't worry...we only stayed for a short time and we are never going to do it again! We just wanted Brody to get in a pool somewhere!)
He was a little uncertain because the water isn't as warm as his bath. He loves his bath so we thought he would love swimming. It might take him a while to get used to it. Ok, finally on to the pictures!
Testing it out
I hate this, Daddy!
Momma, SAVE ME!
Ok, maybe its not so bad.
Then on Saturday we went to the Aggie Baseball game with my parents, Matt's parents, and Brent and Leigh Ann. This is the only picture I took. He's wearing my dad's A&M hat. It's too cute! (The Aggies WHOOPED Houston..22-4!!)
Ok, one last thing. I finally took him in yesterday for his 4.5 month checkup. (It was supposed to be a 4 month checkup but they couldnt' get me in until now.) He sadly had to go to a new dr because since I quit my job to stay at home with him, we lost our fancy pants insurance and switched to Scott and White. And for some dumb reason, they won't let Dr. Bacak accept their insurance. So we had to go to a S&W dr. We're sad to have switched, but we really did like the new dr. He was so nice and asked me tons of questions to try to get to know Brody.
So check this out..Brody only weighs 13 lbs 2 oz..at almost 5 months old. And he's 23 3/4 inches long. He's in the 10th% in weight..and 5th% in height!! He's such a little guy! He had gained less than 3 lbs in 2.5 months. The dr wasn't too concerned..but did point out that he seems to be slimming instead of staying on his growth curve. (He showed me on a piece of blue paper with lots of curvy arched things and I'm supposed to know what all that meant. But I got the picture.) He does want to seem him back in a month just to make sure that he's just going to be small and that its not a nutritional thing. We're not going to start him on solids for at least another month since there's more calories in breastmilk than baby food. Plus since he was early, the doc wants us to wait to give his digestive system a little more time to develop. The doc said he's super healthy, is very active and seems to be developing right on schedule. And he did remind me not to worry if he seemed a little slower to start doing things since he was born early.
Ok, this has been long enough. Sorry to bore you to tears.

Just Because
Oh, he can scoot around the house on his back! (I don't let him, obviously) It's so funny. He refuses to roll over, but he can get around by pushing his feet and scooting. We have an area rug in our living room and when we lay a blanket down, he can literally move around the entire room.
He brings us so much joy, I can't even describe it. We have our moments when he's so whiney or irritable..but as soon as he flashes that toothless grin, my heart just melts. Here are some photos from the last week.
One of the few smiles caught on camera.
Funny lips
Brody and Mommy
He's too small for this..but he loved sitting in it. He could barely see over the top.
Brody and Uncle Drew (my little bro)
On Monday (Memorial Day), we went to Matt and Kaycee's wedding (see pic below). Brody dressed up in his cute white polo style onzie and plaid shorts from BeBe (Leigh Ann's mom). And...we gave him a mohawk! Can you tell in the photo? His hair is thin and light so we took a bunch of pictures to try to capture it..it was so funny. All of the guys at the wedding kept commenting on how awesome it was.
Here are Matt and Kaycee Bevers. They got married at LHBC on Monday and I have to say it was the most Christ-like wedding I have ever attended. It was simple, yet so beautiful. We sang songs of praise to the Lord and a video was played of Matt and Kaycee thanking everyone for coming and just sharing the gospel of Christ to their wedding guests. And, at the end, after Butch pronounced them husband and wife, they shared their very first kiss. And boy did they kiss! The entire santuary was cheering for them. It was a beautiful picture of what a Godly relationship should look like. Thanks Matt and Kaycee for allowing us to share in your special day!

Our Little Nugget
He has changed sooo much just in the last couple of weeks. He is learning so much...his little personality is really coming out. Here's some pics to describe the new, exciting things he's discovering in this big ol' world!
His toys...he's learning to prop up on his mini boppy tummy time toy and play with the toys in front. And he's FINALLY enjoying his gym..he'll lay there for a little while and laugh at the musical star..until it stops, and then mom and dad have to go turn it back on (kind of annoying).
His tongue. He's started to stick it out a lot on his own, as well as when Matt sticks his out at him. It's too cute!
And finally...his favorite thing EVER. He's just discovered this amazing things in the last week or so..and he's OBSESSED. It's better than anything mommy and daddy could give him. He could play with this awesome gift for hours.
Waiting in suspense??
Here it is...
His hands! He stares at them like they are his best friends! Twirling his fingers around and grabbing them..its so cute. He is so mesmerized by them. I don't know if he knows they belong to him or not. Sometimes he seems confused that when he's holding one of his hands, and then pulls it away, that there's not still something in his other hand. (Did that make any sense?)
And of course they always make a great snack when he's done staring. Sometimes when he's "supposed" to be napping, I'll hear him on the monitor just smacking away at them. Sometimes he'd much rather his fist than his paci. I'm glad he found them because he's learning how to soothe himself on his own with them. Not a thumb sucker, but a fist sucker.
I'm really falling behind on the pictures. I need to take some more of him and get a new slide show up! He changes every day..we don't want to miss a beat!

Brody's First Baseball Games

(this what he did through the entire Aggie game!)
Other Brody news...his tummy issues are sooo much better. Every now and then he'll have some small bouts with it, but for the most part it has gotten better. He is growing soo much. His head is getting very stable and he loves to be held to where he's "standing up." He thinks he's such a big boy! He could "stand up" and look out the window ALL DAY! He loves to go outside, even though the sun is soo bright for him. It just makes him so happy. I love to see him smile..it just melts my heart. I think only parents can understand how precious it is when you say your baby's name and they just give you the biggest toothless grin. It's amazing.
We are loving every step of the way..even though he can be a little toot sometimes. He'll be three months this coming weekend..I can't believe it! 2 weeks ago he was barely fitting in 0-3 months clothes..they were too big. And now they are busting at the seams and he is in 3-6 months. It's crazy how fast they grow. Everyone tells you that..but you don't believe it until you see it for yourself! Here is one more sweet pic of the little guy. He looks so innocent!
