baby brooks: 36 weeks

I'm so excited to have made it to this point! Despite all the contractions over the last 3 months, Baby Brooks has made it almost full-term! Praise the Lord! If he's born anytime from now on he should be perfectly fine.

We have an induction date scheduled for 3 weeks from now...IF I can make it that long. Crazy to think that in 3 weeks or less I will have a newborn. However, after my doctor appointment today, it doesn't look like I'll make it that long. BUT you never know! I'm not sure what's appropriate to put "out there" for the web and friends and family to see..so I'll just say that things are starting to progress. Dilation and effacement are underway, and he is head down and fully engaged at 0 station (how far he is into the birth canal). So although she can't give me a prediction and nothing is guaranteed, she doesn't think we'll make it to September 15. Kinda exciting!!

So here's what the web says about our baby boy this week:

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Maternity Clothes: ready for normal clothes again.pretty much only comfortable in skirts and tanks.

Fruit/Veggie: crenshaw melon

Baby changes:
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Best Moment this week: Over the last week I was able to accomplish a lot around the house, organizing and decor wise. Things that will definitely be put off once there is a newborn in the house!

Gender: Baby Boy..Brooks Matthew

Movement: Since he's very low and out of room, he doesn't flip flop around anymore. Still lots of kicking and poking though!

Food Cravings: not really anymore

Sleep: Sleep? What's that?

What I am looking forward to: Feeling normal. Getting sleep. Our big boys meeting Baby Brooks. They are so excited for him to be here!

Symptoms: Pretty much the same as every week...The nausea is under control as long as I take my zofran and still lots of contractions, just not quite close enough together and strong enough to get this baby out yet.

baby brooks: 34 weeks

Look at post below for a recent photo. Those were taken just this past weekend.

How Far Along: 34 Weeks

Maternity Clothes: ready for normal clothes again. Found some cute maternity tanks that I'm wearing the life out of in this 105 degree heat!

Fruit/Veggie: Cantalope

Baby changes: Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

Best Moment this week: My sweet friends hosted an essentials baby shower for us! It was precious and our church family truly blessed us!

Gender: Baby Boy..and he has a first name...Brooks! Still not certain on a middle name.

Movement: Still very active but he's running out of room!

Food Cravings: not really anymore

Sleep: Sleep? What's that?

What I am looking forward to: Feeling normal again. Not having to pee every 5 minutes. And meeting baby brooks in 5 weeks or less!

Symptoms: The nausea is under control as long as I take my zofran. I'm still having lots of contractions and have even been to the dr a couple of unplanned times to make sure I wasn't going into labor.

lil slugger: brooks' baby shower

Being that Brooks is our third child, and another boy at that, we weren't really expecting anyone to give us a baby shower. But our dear friends insisted and threw me an ADORABLE essentials shower. I didn't register but instead just gave them a list of 10 essentials we needed like diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc.

The theme these girls created fit our family perfectly. We had just decorated the older boys' room in vintage baseball decor and they used that as their inspiration. Everything was perfect :)

My homegirls. I love you ladies!

Adorable Cake Balls that poor Christina slaved over.

Lots of Starbucks Frappachinos were drank to create these cute little drinks.

Thank you everyone who attended and blessed our socks off with essentials for baby Brooks. We are so excited to meet him in just a few short weeks!
