baby brooks: 36 weeks

I'm so excited to have made it to this point! Despite all the contractions over the last 3 months, Baby Brooks has made it almost full-term! Praise the Lord! If he's born anytime from now on he should be perfectly fine.

We have an induction date scheduled for 3 weeks from now...IF I can make it that long. Crazy to think that in 3 weeks or less I will have a newborn. However, after my doctor appointment today, it doesn't look like I'll make it that long. BUT you never know! I'm not sure what's appropriate to put "out there" for the web and friends and family to see..so I'll just say that things are starting to progress. Dilation and effacement are underway, and he is head down and fully engaged at 0 station (how far he is into the birth canal). So although she can't give me a prediction and nothing is guaranteed, she doesn't think we'll make it to September 15. Kinda exciting!!

So here's what the web says about our baby boy this week:

How Far Along: 36 Weeks

Maternity Clothes: ready for normal clothes again.pretty much only comfortable in skirts and tanks.

Fruit/Veggie: crenshaw melon

Baby changes:
Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. He now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term.

Best Moment this week: Over the last week I was able to accomplish a lot around the house, organizing and decor wise. Things that will definitely be put off once there is a newborn in the house!

Gender: Baby Boy..Brooks Matthew

Movement: Since he's very low and out of room, he doesn't flip flop around anymore. Still lots of kicking and poking though!

Food Cravings: not really anymore

Sleep: Sleep? What's that?

What I am looking forward to: Feeling normal. Getting sleep. Our big boys meeting Baby Brooks. They are so excited for him to be here!

Symptoms: Pretty much the same as every week...The nausea is under control as long as I take my zofran and still lots of contractions, just not quite close enough together and strong enough to get this baby out yet.
