Make It Go Away!

I haven't been outside since Friday. I haven't done laundry in over a week. My house is a disaster. And all I want to do is curl into a ball on the couch. My sweet son feels neglected and my husband has been left to fend for himself when it comes to dinner and clean clothes.

Someone PLEASE tell me how to make this "all day sickness" go away. Whoever named it morning sickness had no idea what they were talking about. It's horrible. If I don't eat, I need to puke. And sometimes if I do eat, I need to puke. The dr took me off prenatal vitamins and put me on a mixture of a couple of vitamins to hopefully help the nausea. Well, that didn't work. I drink tons of water and that actually seems to help some, and I am constantly snacking.

With Brody, I was on a medicine that took it all away. However, we changed insurances and it would cost me like $300 a month to have the medicine now. So that's not an option.

I know there are some gurus out there on home remedies for this thing. So start leaving your comments with all your ideas. Is there some magic herb I can take? I've read the entire internet (the entire thing!) and I only find the basics- eat small meals all day, drink plenty of water, ginger ale, take vitamins at night, etc.

Please help me!

  1. I would ask Lyns about the magic ACV (apple cider vinegar). I know it helps with heartburn/indigestion and a million other things -- so it might work. And if not, Lyns might know of something that would. She had pretty back 'morning' sickness...right?

  2. Hey!

Okay girl. First off, I feel your pain.....I mean, nausea. Mine was pretty awful too.

I'm assuming that your doc put you on B6. That is a good Vitamin to take to help with nausea.

I had to wake up every morning and had to drink ginger tea (Tazo Tea Brand).

I bought medicinal grade peppermint essential oil (Young Living) and would drink peppermint water. Or, if I felt really nauseous, I would dab a drop on my tongue. This by far helped better than anything I've tried.

I didn't take pre-natal vitamins with any of my pregnancies. I was too sick to. I took the children's GummyVites.

Its great that you are drinking lots of water. Being dehydrated is a major contributor to nausea.

Another thing that helps me tremendously is staying on top of eating every two hours.

Honestly though, when I felt really awful, there was nothing I could do but just lay down and rest on the couch. I know that Matt totally understands.

Don't feel like you have to be doing so much right now. Its okay if the house looks terrible and the laundry isn't done. It really is. I found ways to spend time (not moving) with the girls. We've watched lots of movies and have read lots of books the beginning of this pregnancy. I cooked lots of meals in the crock pot because I just couldn't stand in front of the stove and cook without being sick.

Sorry to be so random. I totally know where you are at with this. I will be praying for you! I love and miss you friend!

p.s. the new header is totally precious! I love it!

  3. Congratulations!! I wish there was a cure for the "all day" sickness, but nothing that I found really worked. Just drinking plenty of fluids and rest, lots of rest...which I know is hard with little brody. Best Wishes!!

  5. Hey Larra,
I totally feel your pain. I literally hung over the toilet for the first 3-4 months! It was terrible. One thing that helped me was to mix sprite with some cranberry juice, make it really cold and just sip on it. Also, making some peppermint tea and just sit there and smell it made me feel a little better. Not much worked for me although I did have to eat like every 2 hours even if it was just some crackers. It sounds weird but I liked milkshakes too - it seemed to fill me up more - and smoothies!

Hope you get better soon! I'm sorry to hear you don't feel well.

    Praying for you,
    Carissa Vann
