Praise Him Through the Storm

Praise the Lord! It's true..I'm pregnant! For those of you who may not know, this has been a long journey for us. Sorry for those of you who know this story backwards and forwards and have to hear it again...I'll keep it brief.

Last September, I found out I was pregnant. 2 weeks later we found out I had an ectopic pregnancy (the baby was in my ovary..not the uterus where it's supposed to be). There was no way the baby would survive and was actually life threatening for me and I had to have emergency surgery.

Since then, we had been trying to conceive again. For 8 months we and sooo many of you have been praying that the Lord would give us another child. In March, I was told that I have endometriosis and that it would be very hard for me to get pregant again. They wanted me to have more surgeries to fix the problem. I didn't want to have any more surgery..but was willing to do whatever I needed to do in order to have children. We kept praying and never gave up hope that God could give us a child.

I scheduled an appt with my doctor for June 12. Matt and I were going to go in there and ask her about the surgery options and even fertility options. We were prepared to do whatever we needed to do. On Sunday, June 10, 2 days before the appt, I took a pregnancy test, just out of curiosity. And sure enough...It was POSITIVE!

That has been almost 3 weeks ago now and I'm 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I have been to the doctor a couple of times and have gotten great results on my bloodwork. Today we went in for an ultrasound and came home with beautiful ultrasound pictures. (I can ultrasound pics be beautiful..but they truly are!) We heard and saw the little heartbeat. It was so amazing.

God has been so faithful through this entire journey. The entire purpose of this blog is to give him all the Glory for the miracle He has done...and to keep our family and friends updated on our new journey. Over the last 8 months, we have quoted the same scripture over and over. I sing the song to myself all the time and we have it posted in our house. "I will lift my eyes unto the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth." Psalm 121:1 It has been a constant reminder to me through the hard times when I thought we could never have a baby that God is in control, He is our helper through the hard times, and He DOES take care of us.

We love you all! Thank you for loving and praying for us! We need your continued prayers as we get through the first trimester!

  1. Praise God!!! We pray blessings over the little life inside of you right now. I just listened to a sermon by Mark Driscoll about the sanctification process of parenthood, and it starts even before you can conceive sometimes. I know He will continue to show Himself to you guys!
    Congratulations! What an exiciting time!!!!

  2. I am crying such sweet tears of joy and thanksgiving...again! I know this has been such a long road...and you both have grown incredibley from it...I am so proud of you two! forgot to mention that this baby was conceived right around the same time the first baby would have been due...why does God love us so much to show us how even throughlittle things like He is SOVEREIGN!?! Oh, I am so thankful to Him for what He is growing in that itty bitty little belly of yours! Now I can add you to my blog!!

  3. Yippy Skippy! I'm super excited about the blog, but I'm even more excited about that sweet little one in your cute little belly! God is so faithful and good.

We love you guys so much and it has been such a joy in my life to watch you go from single, dating (or whatever you call it:), married, and now parents. Thanks for bringing us along this journey. You are so special to us. I can't wait to see you mother and father your little one.

I know you will be amazing at it because you know what it means to 'trust in the Lord ALWAYS'.

    LOVE YA!

p.s. can't wait to add you to my blog too! Welcome to 'Bloggerhoodem'. I'm still a newbie myself, but it sure is fun!

  4. Sweet girl!

I love the blog and love this baby!!

God is incredible. How can our little Matty-poo be having a baby?

I remember when he was sitting in the back of a mini-van on the way to youth camp, EATING and making fun of my driving. Crazy!

What a blessing to be a part of your lives...from braces to BABIES!!!

  5. Congratulations!!! Mark and I rejoice with you! We have been praying for you both, and we will continue! God IS so amazing!

  6. The Lord is so good! Oh, I am so excited! What a joy to see not only the faithfulness of the Lord through pain and suffering, but also His mercy and in power in this pregnancy! I will be praying for that precious one in your tummy as well as you two! Thank you for your vulnerability throughout this long road....we have learned from and been blessed by your faith.
Larra, the first thing I thought when I got off the phone with you the other day was..."Oh they MUST get a blog!" Especially to share this joy with those in bordering states....ah!
So...any bets on the sex of this little palermo yet??

I mean really, how cute is this kid going to be with you two as parents!?
    love you both!

  7. Cate! You're not supposed to be using that word least not for 2 more months...haha...jk. My bet is it's s girl...but maybe that is another post? Love you, girls! (I feel like I am responding to one of our 3 way emails!)

  8. Praise the Lord! I can't wait to spoil me a grandchild! God is so amazing and his timing is perfect. I'm so proud of ya'll and how you give God all the glory through all of this. I sure hope the next 8 months go by pretty quick. I'm ready to hold that precious baby in my arms.
    Love you,
    Mom (Dena) (Mimi)

  9. Yea it did sound like one of our 3 way emails kirby. Yea, We'll have a gender prediction post sometime..We'll wait a little while on that one though. I'm not going to have too much to post about since Matt says this blog can ONLY be used for baby updates and pictures. So ours might not be the most exciting blog to read! Surely I can find ways to post things and bring the baby into it so that it counts right?

  10. We don't mind hearing it over again. The word of God says to talk about what God does for us day and night-to tell our children and their children-to place reminders of God's goodness. This is how the Israelites have passed on God's word for so many generations. We rejoice with you two and thank God that he has added to our family of faith.

  11. We are so happy for you both.
Congratulations!!!! I know this baby is going to be much-loved by all of us at LHBC. It will be fun to see Allen & Dena as grandparents too. Thanks for letting us in on your good news.
    Love, Marylou and Duane

  12. We are so happy and excited for the two of you! We love all so much and will be there for you and Broley anytime you need us. God is SO good and our trials only make us stronger in Him. Can't wait to hold our niece or nephew in our arms!

    Aunt LA (Zia??) haha

  13. Just to clarify...we aren't naming our child Broley. Its a combination of the boy name and girl name that we have picked out. Brody and Kinley. So for now, its Broley. Didn't want to throw anyone off with that.

  14. Wow! Just checked my email and found out about the blog. How exciting is this.
Kirby.. never thought about the fact that this baby was conceived when the other baby was due. Thank God for filling in the gap and replacing mourning with joy. I love the way He works.
Dena...we are going to some kinda of grandmas. Can't wait to share some great times together spoiling our baby.
Larra...when I think about the fact that a little over a year ago you walked down the isle to "How great is our God" not knowing how He was going to reveal in such a short time how great He truly is in yours and Matt's life. I couldn't be more thrilled knowing my little girl has a miracle growing inside her. Dad & I are praying constantly for the health and safety of you and the baby and for Matt. I know that you both will be wonderful Godly parents. You have many great examples to follow.

    I Love you! Mom (Nina)

  15. Praise God for babies. God is good!! We are so happy for y'all!

    Justin, Ana and the girls

Thanks for leaving us a note! We love hearing from you!
