lil slugger: brooks' baby shower

Being that Brooks is our third child, and another boy at that, we weren't really expecting anyone to give us a baby shower. But our dear friends insisted and threw me an ADORABLE essentials shower. I didn't register but instead just gave them a list of 10 essentials we needed like diapers, wipes, pacifiers, etc.

The theme these girls created fit our family perfectly. We had just decorated the older boys' room in vintage baseball decor and they used that as their inspiration. Everything was perfect :)

My homegirls. I love you ladies!

Adorable Cake Balls that poor Christina slaved over.

Lots of Starbucks Frappachinos were drank to create these cute little drinks.

Thank you everyone who attended and blessed our socks off with essentials for baby Brooks. We are so excited to meet him in just a few short weeks!

3 Days to Go...

I'm so behind on my posting. I haven't posted our family vacation or Easter. But those involve a lot of photos and I just really haven't had time to sort through them all. So maybe one day I'll post those..maybe.

But I wanted to share with you what we'll be doing this coming weekend. Do you know these people?

Well, if you don't, you should. We have spent the last year (wow, I can't believe its been almost a year!) getting to know them and let me tell you, they are something else! Andrea approached me about photographing her wedding at a hope group hangout night. From then on, they've become part of our family. We've loved getting to share in their highs and lows of engagement. There have been tears shed and many, many laughs..Andrea's laugh is quite contagious. They love our kids almost as much as we do. (Trent, do you remember when you were afraid to hold Carson? That's so funny to me now seeing how you two are BFF.)

So anyways, see those special people up there, they are finally getting married on Saturday! And we get to not only celebrate with them, but also capture their special day. I haven't been quite this excited to shoot a wedding in a long time. I think having a personal connection with the bride and groom makes our job that much more special and enjoyable. So, this whole post was to say Happy Wedding Weekend Trent and Andrea! We love you guys and can't wait to see you get married.

You Might Be a Redneck...

if Jeff Foxworthy personally gives you tickets to see his show. Matt's dad, Allen, is Jeff's taxidermist. So he called Allen and offered him tickets to his show in Houston on January 30. He was there with 2 of the Blue Collar guys, Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy. Allen of course said yea! We'd love tickets! Can we have 10? Not only did Jeff hook us up with 10 tickets, but also backstage passes to meet him and the other guys. Unfortunately, Allen didn't even get to go to the show. So since Matt also mounts some of Jeff's stuff, he was put in charge of the tickets. We got to spend the evening with great friends and had a blast! Trent and Andrea rode with us to Houston (actually, we rode with them since Andrea drove) and we met up at Brent and Leigh Ann's. The 6 of us then piled up and headed to dinner before the show. Once we got there, we met up with David, Mona, Jordan (who was a little late), and a friend of theirs. We had quite a crew. We laughed hard all night, mostly at Bill and Jeff. Larry was funny at times, but was not the most tasteful guy.

I'm not trying to hug all up on Jeff. Bill Engvall was trying to squeeze me out or something. It was very awkward. Matt brought some hats for Jeff to sign and Jeff started going on and on about how Allen was the best taxidermist in the whole world. When Larry and Bill saw the hats, they wanted some. Larry kept saying "That's a nice hat right there. Can I get one of dem." I'm sure you can imagine his voice saying that. Our backstage time took up way more time than you're allowed but Jeff just wanted to talk to Matt about his mounts and kept asking if Allen was coming. It was great!

My Disclaimer: I DESPISE ever being called a redneck. Just because I'm from a small town where some people there choose to be rednecks, does not make me one. Just because people in my current hometown or family choose to be rednecks, does not make me one. Not saying being a "redneck" is bad thing, but its a lifestyle you choose for yourself. And I do not choose that for myself. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but its one of my biggest pet peeves. So yes, I had a great time at the show. The guys are stinking hilarious. But believe me, we definitely did not blend in with the crowd that was there.

Oh What A Night!

We had such a GREAT time last night. About 60 ladies from our church dressed up like characters in the movie Hairspray. We went to see the movie and then went to Cafe Excell for dessert. I must admit..I was very hesitant about going. When my awesome mentor and great friend Lynsey invited me to go, my first response was no way! The thought of dressing up like someone from the 60s and parading around town was terrifying to me. However, after a SECOND email from Lyns...and some prodding from Kirby, I finally decided to go. And I'm so glad I did. It was so fun to have my hair teased and dress up like Penny from the movie. It was great getting to talk to girls that I don't see much, and getting to meet new people. Here are some pics from the evening:

Thanks girls for "dragging" me to Hairspray. It was a blast!
(there's a new baby post below too!)
